- This is not a retail meat sale. Customers purchase an ownership interest in the live animal prior to slaughter. Processing is performed by a licensed custom-exempt processor. The resulting product is not USDA inspected, is intended solely for the personal use of the owner, their family, and non-paying guests, and is labeled “Not for Sale” as required by federal law.

Common questions
Before you reserve.
Buying beef this way is different than the grocery store — and once you see it laid out, it’s simple.
What's the difference between an eighth, quarter, and half share?
It’s the portion of the live animal you’re purchasing ownership in — bigger shares mean more variety of cuts and a lower cost per pound, but need more freezer space.
How much freezer space do I need?
As a rough guide, plan on about 1 cubic foot of freezer space for every 30–40 lbs of beef.
Can I customize my cuts?
We offer some flexibility, including options like all ground beef or all-beef chorizo, at an extra cost. Individual cuts and steak thicknesses follow our processor’s standard cut sheet to ensure consistent processing.
What are your cattle fed?
All of our cattle are fed #1 grade alfalfa hay, tested by Chandler Analytical Laboratories to confirm quality before it’s ever fed to the herd. From birth, we supplement their diet daily with Producer’s Pride 12% All-Stock Textured Livestock Feed — a palatable, molasses-based feed formulated to promote strong, healthy animals.
Do I pay you or the processor?
You pay Faultner Ranch directly — one payment covering your share plus the processing fee, which is itemized separately on your invoice. We coordinate everything with Carter’s Custom Cuts in Thatcher, Arizona on your behalf.
How is my beef packaged?
Your beef is individually vacuum-sealed to help maintain freshness and quality while providing longer-lasting freezer storage.
